Children’s Worship is a time for children to encounter, experience, and worship God in an age-appropriate manner. The children learn together how to worship and adore God. Children’s Worship emulates elements of ‘big church’ so that the children will be prepared over time to join the greater community of believers in meaningful worship.

Who attends Children’s Worship?
After joining the congregation for a time of praise and a special moment just for them, children three-years-old through 1st grade are dismissed at the end of a song and make their way to the fellowship hall. Children’s Worship is staffed each week by a teacher, a youth assistant and parent volunteer.

What happens in Children’s Worship?
The elements of worship for the Children’s Worship service are:

• God’s greeting – The adult teachers and children great each other with, “The Lord be with you…..and also with you.”
• Songs – Children’s Worship includes songs by children’s artists and songs that are a regular part of the congregation’s singing, such as “Thy Word” and “God is So Good.”
• Call To Worship – We usually review Deuteronomy 6:4-5 as we gather for our time of worship.
• God’s Word is presented – Each week a Bible story is presented with the Children In Worship curriculum. The children hear God’s word and see it before them as the teacher presents the story with wooden figures enhancing comprehension and retention.
• Song of Response – We close the time to hear God’s word with the song, “God is So Good.”
• Response Time – Stations pertaining to the story of the day are set up around the room (Bible reading, puzzle making, drawing and coloring, etc.). These aid in understanding the story and remembering it.
• Prayer – Children’s Worship ends with prayer. Each child is encouraged to take the opportunity to talk to God, either out loud or silently.

A few important things to know

• American Sign Language is a common practice for many songs and Bible verses in the Children’s Worship Center. The use of ‘motion’ and hand movements enhances praise.
• All parents are welcome anytime to visit and observe worship.
• A graduation service will transition children from Children’s Worship into ‘big church’ after they have finished their 1st grade school year.
